It’s Spring Break, so why not enjoy a family get together with your pals from Community Movie Night with Ygal Kaufman at the Darkside Cinema? We’re showing the animated classic, Gulliver’s Travels (1939), by the legendary Fleischer brothers. To give you an extra chance to bring the kids out to see this classic bit of merriment, we’re showing it at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. As usual, this is a completely free screening, and kids are welcome. The pre-show newsreels and goodies will be family friendly, but still weird and amazing, so don’t miss a chance to see a gorgeous animated version of on of the most beloved stories of all time. Tuesday, March, 24th, at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Darkside Cinema. Arrive early to guarantee seating.
Only the Valiant (1951) starring Gregory Peck, Ward Bond, Barbara Payton, Gig Young and Lon Chaney, Jr. directed by Gordon Douglas. Also known as Fort Invincible, this classic Cowboys & Indians western is about a disgraced Army captain who earns back his good name by defending a fort from Indian attack with only a small group of men by his side. This is two fisted six gun action at it’s best. Peck shines in a strong-but-quiet type of role that he was basically the master of. Supporting roles from legendary Academy Award winner Gig Young (for 1969’s They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?) and Neville Brand are among the highlights of this oft forgotten action/western drama. And of course this screening will feature amazing newsreels, shorts, commercials, cartoons and other treats from 1951 to really take you back. Don’t miss this, the 38th edition of CMNYK, at the Darkside Cinema! And don’t forget, CMNYK is always a free admission affair, so don’t miss it!
